Some goodies to be found at the Blue Dot boutique sale this weekend — we decided to check out the first day of the sale Saturday. Alas, I couldn’t resist sleeping in so we didn’t get out there until close to 2 p.m. The idea is pretty brilliant — gather OC’s best boutiques under one roof for a blowout sale with up to 75% off regular retail prices. Good news is, organizers say this will be a semi-annual shopping event!
More than 30 boutiques participated: Erica Dee, Goat, Lola Rouge, Patina, Shopgirls, Elle H, Habit, Solutions, Hannah Bean, Harlow and more. The event was cash only for at the door entrance but as it turns out, a good handful of the shops took credit cards … Click on the jump to see what goods await if you go Sunday …

I like the easy shape of this 3.1 Phillip Lim caramel-hued suede shoulder tote, great for the fashionable worker bee. The sides even unfold to create more space (to look like a regular tote). If only I could shave off the first digit of the price tag …

Calling all prom-goers! (Not sure if anyone in high school actually peruses a newspaper site, but hey, pass this onto your younger siblings or offspring …)
Your high school doesn’t need a Super Sweet 16–size budget in order to throw the prom of your dreams. Go to TeenVogue.com and submit a brief essay telling us why your prom deserves a total makeover, and include a few photos supporting your case.
A team of Teen Vogue editors and stylists will fly to the winner’s hometown and revamp the party from floor to ceiling. (And they’ll even have time to give the winner her own personal makeover, too.) Go to teenvogue.com/go/prom now for your chance to win a truly unforgettable night!
Submission period starts on Feb.1 and ends March 9.

The impossibly funny and sharp-tongued bloggers of Go Fug Yourself have come out with a book: “Go Fug Yourself: The Fug Awards.” Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan have inducted the word “fugly” – which means frightfully ugly, into the fashion lexicon. With Go Fug Yourself, the duo has entertained 3.5 million unique visitors a month with their smart, scathing dressing-down of celebrity fashion disasters. In the book, the two hand out honors to various celebrities such as “The Tanorexia Award” for worst fake tans and “The Sag Award” for most egregious misuse of breasts (winner: Kirsten Dunst). The book ($20) hits stores Feb.5 but is already available on Amazon.com.

Adios, black leggings. I know, I know — a lot of you vehemently despise the clingy legwear that’s become so ubiquitous, but they’re so comfortable. Lindsay Lohan was photographed earlier this week in a pair of cropped cream lace leggings by So Low. I actually think it’s a cute look, pairing the white with the cream. Although, it would be much more pulled together had she thrown a trench coat over it with a scarf perhaps. These dainty leggings (and especially at that biker short length) are the kind that are probably best seen barely peeking out from underneath a tunic or short dress — otherwise, they look a bit Madonna circa the 80s. If you can rock ‘em, they come in cream, fudge and black and retails for $37 at SoLowStyle.com

Looking at this, I almost started wishing I was a high society VIP just so I could wear this dainty gray skirt suit with the delicate scalloped lace neckline, yet another demure but feminine ensemble from St. John’s fall runway collection. I’d pair it with some nude patent heels, a smart clutch and simple pearl earrings. What? C’mon, haven’t you ever imagined yourself trying on a look outside of your usual style-box?

St. John’s fall offerings of glitzy, animal print frocks and coats conjures up Roberto Cavalli, no? Though, these days, it’s hard not to think of the Italian designer whenever one spies anything animal-print inspired. That trench coat even offered a red lining that prompted one to think of shoe designer Christian Louboutin’s trademark red soles …
